Store Support Graduate Program
When you join as a store support graduate, your focus will be on one specific function so that you gain a deep understanding of this specialist area over the two year program. In 2011, we have opportunities availabile in the following functions - Merchandise, Marketing, People and Capability, IT, Finance, Property and Procurment Services .
Each year you will spend a number of days in the heart of our business on the shop floor. This will help you gain a better understanding of how our businesses operate and how your function supports our stores.
Within your chosen field, you will experience four six month rotations so you learn all aspects of that specialist area of the business. Examples of rotations within our support functions include:
Merchandise – Buying, space planning and house brand across all aspects of the merchandising cycle.
Marketing – Category marketing, brand strategy, house brand development, consumer insights and marketing communications.
People and Capability – Recruitment, training, organisational development, talent management, employee relations and advisory.
IT – Systems and network engineering, application development and support, web technologies, security plus business related roles such as business analysts, client management and service delivery.
Finance – Various finance and commercial accounting roles across Coles Operations, Merchandise, Coles Express and Liquor. You will have completed the necessary units as part of your degree to make you eligible to complete your CA or CPA.
Property – New property sites, planning, safe design, implementation and management of new stores, lease negotiation for new and current stores and project management for new stores and refurbishments.
Procurement – joining project teams, you will be involved in strategic planning for products and services, analyse costs, and negotiate with potential suppliers.
